Tango into Casualty!
Fans of the BBC’s ‘Casualty’ series on BBC1 will be aware of
a Tango theme that has been played out over the last few episodes by 2 of the
show’s stars Abs and Tess played by James Redmond & Suzanne Packer.
A Reading based Argentine Tango Club called Tango Nirvana were asked to help
the actors prepare their dancing some 6 weeks ago at the BBC’s studios
in Bristol.
Tom Nickson assisted by Tracey Tyack-King spent a few hours with the
actors teaching
them to dance this passionate dance from Buenos Aires.
Tom said, “The time we had with the actors was very limited as shooting
time was continually changing. However, our goal was to make them ‘look’ like
they could dance, which we successfully managed to do.” Tracey added, “both
the actors who play Tess and Abs were incredibly professional, and in a very
short space of time were able to do a convincing job of dancing as well as acting
out the script”.
Tango Nirvana also supplied the music for the dancing performed by one of the
top Tango Bands in the UK called Los Mareados. The band will be playing live
at one of Tango Nirvanas events later in the year.
Tango Nirvana hold regular classes in the Reading area and teach the authentic
Salon style of Argentine Tango that is based on lead and follow. If you would
