About Tango Nirvana

Tango Nirvana consists of a team of individuals who work together to bring you some of the best Tango events in the Reading area.

Tango at the Reading Canoe Club was first founded by Bob and Maggie - 2 very well respected Tango dancers - who held a successful Milonga there until 2006 when they decided to move to the Isle of Man. They gave Tango Nirvana the chance to run the Milonga as they considered Tango Nirvana well grounded in the Salon style Tango that they themselves taught and believed in. Tango Nirvana were delighted to be given the opportunity and over the last 2 years have continued to make the Canoe Club one of the most well respected and friendliest Tango venues each month with visitors from all over the country in attendance.

The two main teachers at Tango Nirvana have been dancing Tango for over 10 years. They teach the authentic, classic style of Salon Tango based on lead and follow, which means that you should be able to dance with anyone not just your partner! Tango is much more than the fabulous stage dancing you see on the touring shows. It's about making a connection with another person during a dance. It's about musicality. As one of the well known maestros said to us once, "Tango is a conversation". This is the belief that Tango Nirvana carries with their teaching and which they try to convey to their students.
